EMPLOYEE FEEDBACK
Notion x The Money Academy
Notion has run the 6-week Money Academy each year and we’ve rewarded high-achieving employees with seats in the class. Here’s their feedback:
What would you tell someone thinking about enrolling in the course?
“This is a great course to learn (or relearn) the basics of finances and how to take control of your money and just reset how you think about finances. The class is helpful in that the assignments are a forcing function and make you actually do the things that you’ve been putting off.”
“If you have any questions about money management, this is a great course to join to be able to understand (more in depth) the different aspects of money management. Investments, 401K's, rainy day funds, there is so much to learn and this course covers so much!”
“I've been talking to youngsters already! This will tell you the basics you need to make a difference in your financial future, by taking simple steps now. If you're in your 20s, it's a no brainier, time is on your side!”
What did you like about the course?
“I loved that we were able to talk and be open about our finances in an environment where everyone had the same questions. It didn't feel like any of my questions were dumb and I felt encouraged to ask things I wouldn't know who to ask in the real world.”
“Rob is the best! I really valued how he structured the course and used a lot of references to help us understand further. Personally I'm not able to easily understand some of the criteria in the course, so having him outline it in layman's terms was super helpful for me.”
“Rob's friendly and non technical approach. Even though I knew a lot of the things, it helped me work out which things I needed to focus on more (eg my stock split, my options as a foreigner).”
What progress did you make over the 6 weeks? How do you feel now compared to when you started?
“I have made significant progress. I now understand why I should have a HYSA, how to maximize my 401k and where to allocate those resources, investments and what my risk tolerance is. I still feel like I have my uncertainties related to some of the topics covered, but have made significant progress from 6 weeks ago.”
“I definitely feel like I have a better understanding of where I should be investing my paycheck into. I had some vague understanding about 401Ks, brokerage accounts, but this class helped me think more about tax implications and savings rates.”
“I’ve made a lot of progress! I improved my high yield savings percentage, opened a general investing account and learned a lot about 401k’s and Roths.”
